Meet Captain Glenn
My interest in sailing began while living in Newport, RI in 1974, after seeing the 12 meter yachts competing in the America’s Cup Regatta. I have been racing, cruising, teaching and otherwise “messing around with sailboats” for well over 20 years. I hold a US Coast Guard 25 ton Inland Masters credential with Sailing endorsement, as well as a 100 ton OUPV credential. I am certified by US Sailing as a Level 2 Instructor/Coach, and certified by the American Sailing Association (ASA) to teach ASA 101 (Basic Keelboat), ASA 103 (Basic Cruising), ASA 104 (Bareboat Cruising) and ASA 105 (Coastal Navigation). I have taken almost all of the ASA’s courses through Offshore Passage Making (ASA 108) and presently teach sailing on Narragansett Bay, RI (www.narragansettsailing.com).
A Passion For Sailing…
Along with a somewhat warped sense of humor, I bring a passionate perspective to adult sailing instruction. Unique in my background as a military “brat” growing up on military bases, and a 29+ year career in Law Enforcement, I didn’t grow up sailing, like many in the industry who’ve sailed from a very young age. I started sailing in my 30s and thoroughly understand learning new things from an adult’s perspective. Join me in my adventures (virtually, vicariously, or on a boat with me), as I explore new experiences and places! (I didn’t say “destinations” because, as in life, the journey is what its about).
Sail Away…
I am available for private or group lessons through either school or on your own boat. I am also available to captain your charter and assist with arrangements to charter your cruise on Narragansett Bay or in the Caribbean.
